It costs thousands of dollars for legal residents in the US, eligible to become citizens, to begin the process. On April 19th in Colorado, a Naturalization drive brought volunteers and legal residents together to file for citizenship.
Part of a nationwide Citizenship Day initiative, Ya es Hora ¡Ciudadania!, the drive aimed to give legal residents (those with Green Cards), who meet the requirements to apply for citizenship, help overcoming logistical and financial obstacles keeping them from the benefits and responsibilities of full American-hood.
According to one estimate, there are some 100,000 people in Colorado alone who meet the requirements to apply for Citizenship. Many of them are discouraged by filing costs, mountains of paperwork, and fear of mistakes.

And the enthusiastic supporters were grappling with the steady beat of the sun, where only a few days before sleet had stung faces and forced coat collars up.

Who are those folks in those overflow crowds? These are some of the folks who waited outside the Car Dealership waiting for a chance to see Mitt Romney, even though they couldn’t hear the speech.
Like a lot of states, Colorado had its turn to host lotsa politicians this week. Here’s a roundup of events with Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, and Ron Paul.
